George Herbert Walker Bush Internship

SFA Delegaton

While a semester working in Austin or Washington may provide invaluable experience and connections, the costs of moving and finding housing is beyond the resources of most SFA students. This internship honors the public service of George H.W. Bush by helping SFA students begin their own career in public service.

The purpose of the Endowment is to provide financial assistance for students participating in a public service internship while attending Stephen F. Austin State University and who meet the following criteria:

  • Enrolled as a full-time student at Stephen F. Austin State University;
  • Preference given to student(s) pursuing a degree in political science, public administration or journalism;
  • Completed a minimum of 60 hours of studies;
  • Maintains a minimum cumulative graduate GPA of 3.0;
  • Interested in working primarily in public service or journalism;
  • Is not currently employed in a public sector organization or non-profit organization; and
  • Preference given to students pursuing internships in Washington, D.C. or Austin, Texas.
