SFA – Sculpture For All, a project that merges the beautiful SFA Gardens with a national public art exhibition, aims to place a variety of public art pieces among the spring 2014 blooms throughout the gardens.

Fundraising efforts are under way for a $20,000 goal that will enable organizers to install eight to 10 sculptures in a juried show of outdoor public art placed in the SFA Gardens. The fundraising plan will cover the cost of art transportation stipends, artist prizes, insurance, promotions, catalogs and other necessary expenses.

This endeavor seeks to expose SFA students and faculty members to art they might not otherwise see – live and in person. The event will bring national recognition and publicity to SFA. Sculpture For All will play a critical part in fulfilling the university's mission of excellence in teaching, research, scholarship, creative work and service by creating new learning opportunities – helping to build brand awareness for the school, as well as aiding in recruitment of both students and faculty members.

The exhibition will also enhance tourism for the already popular Nacogdoches Azalea Trail and Azalea Symposium and provide a landmark event as Nacogdoches celebrates the city's first spring as “The Garden Capital of Texas.”

Sculpture for All is a joint partnership project that brings together faculty, staff and students from the SFA School of Art and the Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture's SFA Gardens.

"With the pairing of Friends of the Visual Arts and Friends of the Gardens, the backing of the entire university, and the strength of our community partners, this is assured to be a fruitful and creative project," said Mast Arboretum Research Associate Dawn Stover.
